Module 6

Two very practical applications. Fantastic. The mind mapping tool is excellent, easy to use and the students would be able to make great use of it across all areas of the curriculum. Even as simple as mind mapping the results of a class or group discussion and then capturing this to place in a Smartboard file to share easily with the class. Excellent tool for note taking too.
Glogster would be so motivating for the students. My last year's Year 6 would have so enjoyed the posibilities it presents when recording and then sharing information. Gone would be the old idea of projct like assignments.
I'm very impressed with both these applications.

Module 5

I find alot of this stuff very frustrating. It has taken me nearly an hour to remember how to blog!
Loving my ipod I have had a very basic relationship with itunes but certainly was not aware of the availability of so much through them. Teacher tube and the other sources of video can enhance teaching greatly. Opportunities for students to post their own videos gives much more meaning to creating videos which will have such a potentially large audience.
Not teaching this year makes this a little hard to get a practical sense of the potential of the things I am learning but it will all still be there next year.

Module 4

I'm disappointed with myself that I didn't finish in the first semester - ah well - onwards and upwards!
The Flickr capabilities are impressive. I feel sorry for the people who made a crust through photo development labs! If students had ready, easy access to cameras and could create pictorial presentations of their learning it would be fantastic. To access and share these with such ease would provide an audience that would give so much more meaning/purpose to their learning. Having taught Year 6 last year the idea of the Graduation CD could be taken a step further and create a record of their school years through this. Parents who wont allow students to have their photograph on the net would be the only issue.

Module 3

Had a few problems working this one out. Not as user friendly or maybe my head isn't in the right space. I like the idea our Principal has of using it with the leadership team to communicate and get feedback thus cutting back on meeting time which in the buyness of schools can often be hard to find. Implication for other professional communication like Curriculum teams on staff is evident.
I much prefer the idea of Blogs working with the students. To comment on work rather than edit in isolation is important. Will keep an open mind though!

Module 2

I was fortunate to share my nephew's blog as he traveled the world last year on his 'gap year'. It was such an easy way for him to keep family and friends up to date with his adventures and so exciting for us to be a part of it. I did miss getting post cards though!

The potential for such a tool is clear. I am reminded of my first year teaching in the 80's when I had my class keep a journal and I would comment in it each week. This was a great way to get to know the students at a level that is even harder to reach these days. Adding an educational focus takes it all to another level.

Module 1

As very much a techno novice the idea of this course is a little daunting. Having taught for 26 years it has been interesting to see how technology has changed and impacted on the classroom and beyond but we are now clearly progressing at an enormous rate.

Having taken a years leave it will be good to be able to spend some time on this endeavour.

So this is my first day of Web Two-ing! Thanks to the generous Jenny I am started on a technical journey that is obviously going to take me out of my comfort zone!

The background info to Web 2 surprised me as I thought it was just a CEO thing but clearly it is much more. I'm glad the two videos addressed some of the issues around the possible draw backs. Being aware of your virtual footprint is also an interesting sign of the times. Gives a whole new dimension to applying for jobs and potential employers finding more info than they would get from a referee!
